A fast-paced, romantic page turner set in the heart of Greek summer

Thrilled about all those 5-star reviews on my mystery romance novel DEADLY SECRETS, I wanted to share some of them with you:

A fast-paced, romantic page turner set in the heart of Greek summer

This is the second book in the Greek Isles Series and I must say, I thought it was even better than Spellbound in His Arms. Deadly Secrets was simply un-put-downable.

Helena arrives in the cosmopolitan Greek island of Mykonos on a long holiday from London in order to find her roots and hoping to unravel an old family mystery too. In the process, her life and the life of others are put in danger, and she also falls irrevocably in love. This reads in many ways like a Harlequin romance; the dislike between the two main protagonists, the second guessing, the misunderstandings, etc. It is not advisable to read this if you are put off by these elements. But, if like me, you enjoy this type of romance, then do not hesitate.

If anything, this book will transport you to the heart of the Greek summer in the Cyclades; the descriptions of the town of Mykonos are vivid and made me feel like I was back there. This book will highly intrigue and enthuse you, especially as the family secrets are many, the mystery intense and the villain is disclosed at the very end. Angel Sefer’s masterful story-telling will have you guessing all the time, enticing you to keep reading. I know I lost sleep over this, reading far longer into the night than I meant to. A cracking good read!

Exotic and Idyllic Setting
I was almost as captivated by the exotic and idyllic setting (Mykonos, Greece) as the characters, Helena and Captain Dimitris. Sizzling hot attraction, murder and treachery all take place in this fascinating backdrop. The first book was amazing and this one was even better. On to the next.

Suspenseful, thrilling, heart-racing!

Deadly Secrets is the second book in the Greek Isles series, and it is nothing short of amazing. I was completely mesmerized and carried away by the gorgeous descriptions and scenery. I felt as though I was right there on that tropical island. Helena was indeed stunning and Captain Dimitris was exceptionally seductive. Both of these characters captured my heart. Deadly Secrets is a suspenseful, thrilling, heart-racing ride that you will not want to miss. The combination of mystery and romance left me breathless.

This is a well crafted, suspenseful novel set on a mesmerizing island.
I was drawn to this beautifully written and unique story right from the beginning—the fascinating characters, the island descriptions, and the sense of mystery and danger in the air captivated me and made me want more…Don’t miss this one! It’s a winner!

Great Romance!
By
Sefer’s ‘Deadly Secrets’ is set on the beautiful and mysterious Greek Island of Mykonos. As with anything Greek, there’s mystery, danger, and passion in this fast-paced, beautifully written love story. Notwithstanding the heart-wrenching romance between, Dimitris and Helena, the author’s descriptions of the beautiful island compliments the passion and romance between these two strong-willed individuals. Dimitris wants Helena and will stop at nothing to claim her, Helena has to learn to accept Dimitris unreservedly, despite the eerie warnings from her late mother and the prophecies hidden in her grandmother’s diary, before she can submit to him. Will they ever overcome their suspicions and move forward? Get your copy to find out. Great romance!

Passion and Treachery Ignite in this Spellbinder

Thrilled about all those 5-star reviews on my mystery romance novel DEADLY SECRETS, I wanted to share some of them with you:

5.0 out of 5 stars
Passion and Treachery Ignite in this Spellbinder!
I have been to the Greek Isles and the seduction of the backdrop in and of itself is enough to tempt the reader to give up everything just to live there. But, to give it all up to uncover the mysterious past without knowing what may come of it all? And under the enigmatic prophecies of her grandmother? There's another thing. But, the temptation is unrelenting, the characters are brilliantly written and the plot crafted with an elegant finesse. The romantic tension ignite passion and treachery. You are going to love this spellbinder.

A beautifully descriptive story!

What a wonderful and beautifully descriptive story! It might sound cliché to call a place a character, but it’s absolutely true in Ms Sefer’s fascinating novel. The descriptions of Mykonos are so well done; I’m ready to book a trip. I won’t rehash the plot, except to say the mystery kept me involved and the romance between Helena and Dimitris sizzled. This book gave me everything a great read should. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars
An Intriguing Plot

An intriguing plot of love, romance and mystery within the enchanting backdrop of the Greek Islands. Irresistible drama is bound to follow suit. The author, Angel Sefer had done a great job in keeping her audience spellbound throughout the book. Like most great love stories, the heroine (in this case - Helena) juggles her affection for Dimitris and her quest to unearth the truth of her father's disappearance when she was a mere child of eight. This book is beautifully written and I applaud the author for her imaginative and riveting storytelling.

A wonderful review by Olga Núñez Miret for Deadly Secrets - a Mystery/Suspense/Thriller Romance Novel in The Greek Isles Series

Oh, to be young and in love!
I must confess that although I’ve been reading more romantic books of recent (partly in my role as reviewer) it is not a genre I’m an expert in. I’ve probably watched more movies that fall under that label than read books, but it is rare to find books, movies and TV series, whatever the subject, where there isn’t a hint of a romance, even if that’s not the main driving force of the plot.
Deadly Secrets is the first book in The Greek Isles Series that I read, so I cannot compare it to the first one in the series (Spellbound in His Arms), that I’m aware has proven very popular and it is a favourite with many romance readers. This is a romance were the setting plays a very important part in the story. I’d say it’s a secondary character. Helena, the protagonist, is a girl whose father was Greek and she spent her early childhood in Mikonos. When her father disappeared under mysterious circumstances, her mother took her to the UK with her and her links with Greece and the island were severed. But she’d always felt the pull of her birthplace and had wished to go back. Helena, who is young and impulsive, when her mother dies, makes the decision to go back to the island, despite her mother’s warning...

Helena, who is young and impulsive, when her mother dies, makes the decision to go back to the island, despite her mother’s warning.

Helena is presented as a passionate girl, a woman of strong intuition (not always right) and a particular sensibility. She is quick to like or dislike people and her judgement is not always the best. This is a case of a story where you want to grab the protagonists by the neck and shake them. Can’t you see what’s going on? Both her and Dimitris (there’s a story about them that goes many years back, although she is not aware of it. Poor Helena has been kept in the dark about many things) are blinded by their emotions and keep making the wrong assumptions and judgements. Yes, if this were a TV show, you’d be shouting at them.

There are mysteries that are eventually resolved, likeable and very dislikeable characters, confusion and misunderstandings, danger, and magic. Although there is a touch of the paranormal, when I refer to magic I’m talking about the islands. You feel as if you were there and it’s difficult not to go straight and book a ticket when you finish reading the book.

As in many romantic stories, the characters and their life-story and circumstances were completely alien to me and I can’t say I identified with anybody (although some of the self-doubts and hesitations are easily recognisable) but that is precisely the beauty of it. It allows us to escape into a life that’s completely different and live other adventures vicariously. It’s an easy read perfect for a holiday, or for a very cold and cloudy day.

Wonderful 5-star Review by talented author S.R. Mallery for Deadly Secrets

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greek Isles Meets Murder & RomanceMay 20, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Deadly Secrets (The Greek Isles Series Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
Talk about a page-turner! Fifteen minutes in and I realized this was Book 2 and I probably should be reading Book 1. The problem was I was so hooked by then I couldn’t abandon the story. Able to stand on its own (i.e., the author’s talent), the book’s backdrop is the Greek Isles, where the sparkling Aegean, white buildings, and fine Greek cuisine all play hosts to family secrets, inheritances, and an old, unsolved murder. Along comes Helena, saddened by her mother’s recent death in England on top of her father’s mysterious demise from years before. Returning to her childhood home and her slightly older aunt, Sophie, she encounters far more than she had bargained for. Complicated romantic relationships intermingling with past events and miscommunications all kept me glued to the novel and itching to know how it was all going to turn out. Not your typical romance novel, this one is a keeper! 5 stars.

Reviews/Awards

Spellbound in His Arms – 2014 RONE Award Finalist

"The author deftly interweaves the plot as it twists and turns until the reader fears for the lives of heroes Jackie and Michael. It's a fast paced, suspenseful read, with diabolical villains, an intrepid heroine and a super hot detective!" - InD'tale Magazine (Spellbound in His Arms)

"Set in the Greek Islands, this wicked plot of murder and mayhem creates a stark contrast to the pristine beauty that Angel Sefer describes when she proudly introduces us to her island home... The deadly secrets revealed created a bitter-sweet ending that was quite satisfying." - San Francisco Book Review Magazine (Deadly Secrets)

"This novel was very daring, dashed with forbidden romances and served with a great amount of hatred, revenge, and regrets... Sefer entertains the readers with a series of entanglements that gives the novel a chilly air of suspense. She shocks the readers with the cruelty of the acts of violence that occur within supposedly bold Greek families where pride, tradition, and legacy is revered. The message on forgiveness and maintain strong family bonds despite conflict and tragedy is what really makes the novel spectacular and heartwarming." - San Francisco Book Review Magazine (The Heiress of Santorini)

Relevancy

Angel Sefer was born and raised in Greece but spent many years of her life in the United States. After self-publishing her debut novel, Spellbound in His Arms, her work was brought to the attention of a US publisher, Booktrope. A new version of Spellbound in His Arms was published along with two more titles in the Greek Isles series. The success and potential of Angel's first novel attracted the attention of Amazon and was selected for inclusion in the company's AmazonEncore program. In February 2015, Amazon released a new version of Spellbound in His Arms with the cooperation of Booktrope.
