The beautiful spotlight that my wonderful author and blogger friend Olga Nunez Miret posted for me and The Greek Isles Series

Angel Sefer
and The Greek
Isles Series

Hi all:

As you know, I usually bring you guest authors and/or new books on Friday. I have a bit of a backlog now but as I’m thinking about doing a bit of an experiment with my blog, hopefully it will get sorted.

Today I bring you back Angel Sefer. I knew she’d published a new book recently but when I was checking I realised that I hadn’t brought you the second book in her Greek Isles series yet. And therefore, I bring you two (and as she’s published the three as a boxset, of course I had to bring you that one too). And I also have a surprise...

A wonderful spotlight on The Heiress of Santorini at Julie's Odyssey

The Heiress of Santorini

I feel so fortunate to be able to work with so many great authors at Booktrope. I’ve only met Angel virtually, although I might need to head to Greece to meet her in person one of these days, but she is kind-hearted and generous. I cannot wait to dig into all of her books!
Angel Sefer’s third mystery romance, The Heiress of Santorini, was just published! Her first novel was a #1 best seller and Rone Award finalist. Her second novel just got a rave review in San Francisco Book Review Magazine. I think we can suspect great things from the third novel.

Interview with Women's Fiction Author Adrienne Thompson

I’m delighted to welcome my author friend Adrienne Thompson to my blog.

Adrienne Thompson is the author of the popular women's fiction series “The Bluesday Series” and “The Been So Long Series”, as well as the novels “See Me”, “When You’ve Been Blessed (Feels Like Heaven)”, and “Your Love Is King”.

Adrienne, thank you for coming. Let’s talk about one of your books. How about “Your Love is King”? I love this title, and I would like to find out more about this novel. Could you please give us in a short paragraph a summary of the book?

Divorced nurse and single mom, Marli Meadows, finds herself stuck in a rut. She’s tired of her life and decides to leave it behind and embark on a search for change. What she finds instead, is love.

Wow! That sounds good. Are any of the characters or situations used in your book based on real life experiences?

As with all of my books, the characters and situations are loosely based on occurrences and people from my life and/or the lives of the people around me.

That’s very interesting. Now, please tell us, what would you like readers to grasp from your book?

I would like for them to grasp that no matter the level of brokenness they have experienced or are experiencing, they can be healed and they are worthy of love and acceptance.

Very inspiring, Adrienne. Could you please share a little about you?

Sure. Here’s my bio:
Adrienne Thompson has worn many titles in her lifetime–from teenage mother to teenage wife to divorcee to registered nurse to author. This mother of two young adults and one teenager currently resides in Arkansas with her daughter where she writes and publishes her stories full time and spoils her one and only grandchild.

Could you share with us, what was the emotional experience tied to writing?

I am very much in tune with my characters and the things I put them through, lol. To me, they are real, feeling and breathing people. When they are sad, so am I. When they are happy, I smile. Their experiences are real for me and I hope they are real for my readers as well.

Now, could you please describe your writing style? Do you create an outline first and write the book based on that, or do you start writing the first sentence that comes to mind and go on from there?

My writing process is very organic. On my best day, I am nothing more than a conduit for the story. I don’t use outlines. The most I might do is write a short summary that includes the names of the characters and a quick overview of the story. Other than that, I just sit down and write and watch as the story unfolds.

Please, describe your writing environment.

As a woman who has raised three children alone, I can tune out just about anything, so I can write anywhere and anytime as long as I have a comfortable chair, a bathroom nearby, and a cup of water.

Do you use a pen name and if so, why?

No, I use my actual, legal name.

What kind or books/genres are your favorites?

I love reading suspense thrillers/mysteries and realistic women’s fiction. Basically, I love anything that will make me turn the pages and keep me on my toes.

When did you start to write?

Like most authors, I’ve been a writer for most of my life, albeit I never shared any of my work with anyone. Growing up, I wrote a lot of poetry because it was therapeutic for me. I didn’t write my first novel until 2009.

What current projects are you working on?

I am working on a continuation to my Bluesday series titled Locked out of Heaven. I am also working on a follow up to my novel, Your Love Is King titled, Better.

Who is your favorite author?

That would be a tie between James Patterson, Terry McMillan, and Bernice McFadden.

How many books have you written?

I have written and published 11 books so far, with two more planned for this year. I have also contributed to a collection of non-fiction stories titled Just Between Us. That collection is currently available for free in all electronic formats.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?

Where can we find your books?

My books can be purchased by visiting the following sites:

Kindle and paperback:  http://ow.ly/fxVXG
Amazon UK: http://ow.ly/miFUU

Thanks so much, Adrienne for coming and congratulations on your success!

People's Choice Award winner Amanda Mahan is putting her debut novel, Heiress, P.I., on its first 99 cents sale!

Heiress, P.I. is a hilarious YA mystery that's perfect for teens and adults. The novel recently beat out thousands of entries to make it to round 2 of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest. Grab the novel here for your Kindle on March 26 or 27 while it's on sale!

About Heiress, P.I.
If you’ve ever read the tabloids and wondered, “What was she thinking?” then HEIRESS, P.I. offers one possible answer.

Meet Lucy Hansen. She’s the richest teenager in the world – and possibly the shyest. She doesn’t flash her business to the paparazzi as she’s getting out of limos or send selfies while smoking salvia. No, Lucy hides behind her frizzy bangs, environmental causes and organic hemp-blend sweats. Her one true friend (and secret crush) Holden is the poorest kid in Beverly Hills – and probably the scrappiest. He interns for a famous private investigator, and when he asks Lucy to help him crack a case, her life turns from tame to tabloid, from glum to glam, from private to private eye. And when the trail leads directly to her hotel magnate father, it’s up to Lucy to solve the case by infiltrating Hollywood’s most elite and unwelcoming club: Celebutantes. Teens who are famous for, well… being famous.

Along the way, “LuHan” endures wardrobe malfunctions, fake romances, compromising videos-turned-YouTube hits, unflattering mug shots and – worst of all – a makeover. Now Lucy has to save her father, dodge the paparazzi, and keep her IRL ID on the DL – all while maybe, almost, possibly having her first real kiss.

About Amanda Mahan
Amanda Mahan's secret mission began in high school when she won a writing competition with an essay about a skydiving trip. The fact that she never actually went skydiving suggested a career in fiction. After graduation, she spent several years writing comedic online games and worked on two NBC sitcoms. She was also the writer and creator of the People's Choice award-winning "Green Mommy" blog.

Amanda is an expert in applying lip balm, a complete failure at doing her own hair, and specializes in baking addictive red velvet cupcakes. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband, two munchkins, and entirely too much glitter.

Book Blurb

“I once read that the end of a relationship is like being involved in a road traffic accident. Which is quite fitting really, given what happened.”

After seven years, Lizzie wonders whether she’s truly happy with her long-term boyfriend. When one wrong step and a chance meeting set off an unexpected chain of events, her life begins to unravel. On the same day that she meets Martin, an attractive lifeguard, her old friend, Catherine, re-appears. But is Martin really all he seems? And what is the secret that Catherine is hiding? As Lizzie struggles to confront the ghosts of her past, can she survive the shocking twist that will change the course of her future?

Swimming Upstream is a life-affirming and often humorous story about a young woman's pursuit of happiness. It is also a story of female friendship, love, and divided loyalties - and the moral choices that we find ourselves making when the chips are down.

Every writer can relate to this wonderful post by my author friend Effrosyni Moschoudi

CONFESSION FROM A NEWBIE (PLUS A SPONTANEOUS #FF!)

Just under four months ago, having had my fill of rejection letters from literary agents, I signed up on the spur of the moment with a random indie publisher on the web. Now, I know I should have asked around first but in my defense, I was all alone in this back then and knew nobody. Anyway, to cut a long story short, my debut novel got distributed across all major online stores and just like that, I became an indie author. Until then, I had done virtually no research; a mistake that I got to rue painfully once I finally did! The first mistake I realized I had made was the fact that I had done things backwards: instead of promoting my bookbefore the launch, I launched it first and then started to promote it. What followed my shocking realization was a hectic and stressful period of three months where I researched the internet daily for promotional tools & tips while trying at the same time to build a platform on the social media...

Interview with Lilian Roberts, Author of the popular "Immortal Rapture Series"

I'm delighted to welcome Lilian Roberts to my blog for a very interesting interview. Lilian is the author of the popular "Immortal Rapture Series".

Hello Lilian, and welcome!

Hi Angel, I’m happy to be here.

Question No 1:
Please give us in a short paragraph a summary of your book.

College co-ed Arielle Lloyd is on holiday with her immortal love, Sebastian Gaulle, when they receive word of a dreadful accident. Her dear friend Gabrielle hovers near death. But it’s much worse for her beloved friends, Eva and Ian. In spite of Eva’s magical abilities, their lives have been cut tragically short.
Troy Vasser’s only love is Gabrielle, but on the night of the accident, his deepest concern is for their dying friends. While the life force within Ian and Eva flickered dangerously low, Troy had to make a hard choice. He could either let them die or lose their humanity and live as immortals. So he did the only thing he could: he gave them immortality. Now it is up to Arielle to break the news to Eva before the transformation is complete.
Danger continues to stalk Arielle’s life. Unknown to her, her new professor is an immortal, and he is furious when he discovers that Arielle is wearing an amulet, that should be owned by immortals only. Sebastian’s nemesis, Annabel, has also not given on up on her quest to destroy Arielle. What Annabel doesn’t realize is that Arielle’s circle of friends has drastically changed. There are two newly minted immortals that adore her and have vowed to protect her.

Question No 2:
Are any of the characters or situations used in your book based on real life experiences?

I wish I could say yes, but I can’t. However, I have experienced passion and desire to wait for the right things to cross my path and reach my goal.

Question No 3:
What do you want readers to take away from your book? (What would you like your readers to grasp)?

I think that when you go with your passion and your vision, you are eventually going to achieve that which will make you happy. When your heart steers you toward your dream, don’t procrastinate, run toward it with every ounce of strength in your body and mind. Arielle accepted Sebastian for who he was, because her heart told her that he was the only man that would make her complete.

Question No 4:
Could you share a little about you?

I am an engineer for a large corporation; I am a wife and a mother. I am an avid reader. I turned my love of reading into a passion for writing, and have published four out of eight volumes in the Immortal Rapture Series. Arielle: Immortal Awakening, Arielle Immortal Seduction, Arielle Immortal Passion, and Arielle Immortal Quickening. In September of this year, I was offered a book deal with a 5 year contract from Booktrope Publishing Company in Seattle. Needless to say that I’m delighted to be part of such an amazing company.

Question No 5:
Please, describe your writing style. Do you create an outline first and write the book based on that, or do you start writing the first sentence that comes to mind and go on from there?

My style of creating a story may not be the norm, but then that’s me. I actually pick the location and my characters first. Then I build the story around them. I am a very emotional individual, so I throw my own emotions into the story and try to feel what my characters feel. I try to convey emotion as well as engrossing the reader into my story. I want them to fall in love with the characters and leave them wanting more.

Question No 6:
Please, describe your writing environment.

I have a private office with all my books, my music, my computer and everything that inspires me to put my thoughts on paper. I love to write very late at night with music on. Music is a must; it is in every fiber of my being. Somehow, stimulation comes in abundance in an environment without distractions, just my computer and me. I write until I am tired and drained and need to get to bed.

Question No 7:
Do you use a pen name and if so, why?

I use a pen name because I like my privacy.

Question No 8:
What kind or books/genres are your favorites?

I love Paranormal/Romance, Historical Romance, Mystery, and Suspense.

Question No 9:
When did you start to write?

I started a long time ago, but I never thought of publishing anything at all. It took a lot of courage and a lot of push from my family and friends to put my thoughts out there for everyone to see.

Question No 10:
What current projects are you working on?

I am trying to finish books seven and eight in the Immortal Rapture Series. I will have it all done by next year. Booktrope will be re-publishing the books under their label one at a time.

Question No 11:
Who is your favorite author?

Jane Austen.  She was a brilliant writer and a world renowned English author. I have read all of her books, and I am not sure I can say which one I prefer, because I love them all. I have read each one of them numerous time, and I keep Pride and Prejudice on my desk. That is my all time favorite.

Question No 12:
How many books have you written?

I have written nine books. Eight are part of the Immortal Rapture Series. The ninth book is a stand alone novel of Historical Romance. It needs a lot of tweaking until it is finished, but I am looking to finish it in 2014.

Do you have a website where we can keep up with your work?

How can we follow you on Twitter and/or Facebook?
